How to use your ipod as a hard drive

There are two ways to put your iPod into Disk Mode:

The iPod appears to your computer and use it like a floppy disk/portable hard drive.

1.Through iTunes:
  • In iTunes, select iPod in the Source pane and click the Summary tab.
  • In the Options section:
    • check "Manually manage ..."
    • check “Enable disk use” (if not already)
·         Click Apply.
You'll see a slider that allows you to set how much disk space is allocated to music
and data.
2. Through the iPod (not connected):
  • Turn the Hold switch on, then back to off.
  • Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears.
  • Immediately switch your fingers to press and hold the Select and Play/Pause
buttons until "Disk Mode" appears at the top.

Your iPod will now show up as another disk drive under My Computer. Double click
on it to open it. You'll see a handful of files. DON'T ALTER THESE!  This is all the stuff
that make the iPod run.

To be extra safe you can create a new folder and save your stuff

in it (File > New > Folder).
