Connecting Macbook to HDTV

In order to learn how to connect a Macbook to an HDTV set, you need to understand which port your Macbook has. HDTV sets come with a variety of ports and connectors, so you need not worry about that part. The only thing that you need to do is figure out which port on your Macbook can be best utilized for this purpose, and then purchase a suitable cable or adapter or both, and then connect the two of them together.

Your Macbook will either have a Mini-DVI port or a Mini DisplayPort, depending on the model. In order to figure out which one you possess, simply consult the user manual of the machine, or check out the model's specifications online. Obtaining an adapter for either of these ports is very simple, and you can even go to the official Apple website and purchase these adapters or cables from there. This connection will handle the video output of your Macbook on the HDTV, and you will also need a simple RCA cable for the audio output. One end of this cable will go into the headphone jack on the Macbook, and the other end (which contains one red and one white connector) will plug into the TV set. This cable can be found at any electronics store, and it is very cheap.

Another option for you is to get an adapter that converts the Mini-DVI port or the Mini DisplayPort into DVI, and then a cable that connects a DVI port with an HDMI port. Your HDTV has an HDMI port as well as a DVI port, so it doesn't matter which one you use. You will need the RCA cable, irrespective of whichever method you prefer. It is also advisable to get a laptop cooling stand for the Macbook, and a wireless keyboard and mouse for the Macbook as well. This will enable you to connect your Macbook to the HDTV, and leave it there, and then work the two from the comfort of your couch.

In order to turn this connection on, you must first switch off the Macbook and the HDTV. Plug in the appropriate cables and then turn on the HDTV, and go to the appropriate input source. Now power on your Macbook and turn the lid down immediately. This will cause the Macbook to make the TV monitor its primary monitor, and not its secondary one. You will soon see an Apple logo on the HDTV screen, and this is an indication that the connection has been made properly. You can also check the audio by playing some music. Viola, your Macbook to HDTV connection is complete.

You can now use the HDTV screen as you would your Macbook, and all the tasks that you carry out will appear in pristine 1080p HD quality. This connection is very simple to make, and anyone with a basic understanding of these ports and cables should be able to carry it out successfully.

So, the IPV6 in Firefox is now disabled! Restart Firefox for changes to take effect.

Tricks of network systems

Instructions:

USB stands for Universal Serial Bus, and it is a technology which offers high data transfer rates between a device and a computer. USB these days is used to connect almost any kind of device to the computer and the best part of USB is that you can have multiple devices (up to 127) connected to the same USB port at the back of your computer. All you will need will be splitting USB cable to make the tree of USB devices. Connecting peripheral devices is the major use of USB, but have you ever thought of connecting two computers together using a USB connection. Of course for this you will need a special USB cable which is same at both the ends so that it can connect to the two computers. But only connecting the two computers will not be enough and in this post I will let you know how to accomplish this kind of networking. This can be of great help if you have to transfer large amount of data from one computer to another, because transfer over the Ethernet connection, or using a flash drive will be very slow if compared to the transfer speed of USB connection.

USB cables
Let us go ahead and get to the steps of doing the same.

Step 1: Connect the cable to both the computers and since such cable is not very long so it would be good if you keep the two CPUs side by side and connect the cable to the front panel USB ports.

Step 2: If your computers are off then turn them on now and then wait for the desktop to appear. If they were already on then wait for a minute so that USB detects itself.

Step 3: Now click on the ‘Start’ button and then open the ‘Control Panel’. In ‘Control Panel’, open ‘Network Connections’ window.

Step 4: Once you have the ‘Network Connections’ window open click on ‘Set up New Connection’ option and then click on ‘Next’.

Step 5: Now select the option called ‘Setup Advance Connection’ and make the obvious selections. This will connect the two computers together over USB and then click on ‘Next’.

Step 6: Now select ‘Connect Directly to Another Computer’ and click on ‘Next’. It will further ask for some other information and once this wizard ends, the two computers will be connected together.

Now you can share and transfer data between the two computers. Please note that USB has become quite an old technology now and there are many USB standards available in the market. The actual rate of transfer will depend upon the lowest speed of any of the following: 1. USB controller on your motherboard, and 2. speed of the cable. If you have a high speed cable but the controllers are slow then it will be slower and vice versa. So please make sure that you use the correct cable to get the maximum out of it.

How To Recover WEP Key in any Windows operating system

WEP stands for Wired Equivalent Privacy. As the name speaks it is a security feature in wireless networks to make it as secure as wired networks. Sneaking into wired networks is very difficult because you have to make a direct cable connection with the router to do that, but in wireless networks if proper security measures are not taken then anyone can connect to your wireless router if he or she is within the range of your router. This is the reason why security keys like WAP and WEP are so important and there has been lot of advancement in them since the day they were introduced. WEP works as an authentication media for any computer to connect to the wireless network and if you do not have the WEP key, you cannot connect to the wireless router. This key is stored in the router while configuring the wireless network and is known only by the router admin and other authentic users of the network. But what if you land up in a situation where you forget this key and are not able to connect to your router. If this happens in your office then it is pretty simple because you can ask for the key from your IT department, but if you are at your home where you yourself are the administrator of your wireless network then it will cause problems.

WEP KeyIn this post I will deal with the same situation and will let you know how to tackle it and get your WEP key back.

To fix this issue, you would need some extra hardware along with your computer, and that would be an Ethernet cable, long enough to connect your computer and the wireless router together. Please note that WEP works only for the wireless signals and if you connect you computer directly through a cable, then WEP will not at all come into the picture and you can easily connect to the Internet. Let us go into the detailed steps now.

Step 1: Connect your computer with the router using an Ethernet cable.

Step 2: Open Command Prompt. This can be done by opening ‘RUN’ box and executing the ‘CMD’, command depending upon your Windows version.

Step 3: In Command Prompt type and execute the ‘IPCONFIG’ command. This will give you the default gateway of your computer. This default gateway is actually the IP address of your router. Note it down please.

Step 4: Open any web browser and type the default gateway’s IP address in the address bar of the browser. This will take you to the console of the router.

Step 5: Go to the WLAN section in the console and then in to the security settings page.

Step 6: Over here you can easily view the WEP key and can take a note of it.

Now you can close the router console and try connecting your computer wirelessly. Enter the WEP key which you just noted down to connect to the network and that would be all.

How To Check Unauthorized Access to Wi-Fi

Wireless networks are gaining popularity with each passing day and more and more people are getting rid of the old Ethernet cables and getting a wireless network installed. Ethernet cables are considered to be the safest way of communication because no one can illegally hook a cable into your router and steal your network resources, but when it comes to wireless networks this can be easily done if proper measures are not there. Wireless signals are broadcast equally in all directions and anyone who somehow knows the password of your wireless network can easily access the Internet and your network without you even knowing the same. In this post I will let you know how to identify if someone is accessing your home wireless network and how to make it secure again.

MAC address

Definition of MAC address

MAC means Media Access Control. This is the address of a network adapter and is specific to each network device, that is to say here to each computer. Composed of 6 digits, it is encoded in hexadecimal. It is located in layer 2 of the OSI model (interconnection between computer networks) or the TCP / IP (Internet), and is fixed during manufacture.

It is sometimes changed: allow routers as Linux and the latest versions of Windows XP and Vista (via the network card driver).
